More Shanghai tourist attractions ready to reopen

Tourist attractions in Shanghai, including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao Tower, will reopen on Thursday, bringing the total number of reopened scenic spots in the city to 22.

Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Huangpu District, Fengjing Ancient Town and City Beach in Jinshan District, and Haiwan Forest Park in Fengxian District are also reopening, according to the Shanghai Culture and Tourism Administration.

All A-level tourist attractions in the city closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Tourists are recommended to purchase tickets online or via ticket machines for visits to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. They must register their personal information for a reservation code and purchase with their real names. They need to present their health QR code and reservation codes before entry.

Temperatures will be checked and anyone with a temperature above 37.3 degrees Celsius will not be allowed in.

All visitors must wear masks during tours.

The tower will open at 10am on Thursday, two hours later than usual.

Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao Tower will use a reservation system to limit visitor numbers.

Jin Mao Tower will have a "one-meter line" to remind tourists to keep a safe distance from each other in queues.

Oriental Green Land in Qingpu District will reopen on Thursday with a daily limit of 1,000 visitors compared with its maximum capacity of 110,188.

The park will be closed when the new 1,000 limit is reached.

Real-time visitor numbers can be checked on the park's WeChat account.

The park will be open from 9am to 4pm.

Visitors will have their temperatures checked and must present their health QR codes and wear masks.

Anyone registering more than 37.3 degrees Celsius will not be allowed entry.

Visitors will be told to stay 1.5 meters from each other when purchasing tickets and touring the park.

An earlier notice issued by the administration said tourist attractions in Shanghai should use reservation systems to limit visitors to half their maximum daily capacity when they reopen to prevent spreading the coronavirus epidemic and visitors temperatures must be checked.
