Here on a very short work trip and only really had one full day for sightseeing. We had an amazing day with our private tour guide Alex. He was informative and explained to us the history and culture of all the places we went to.
The water town is a must see, it is a very quaint little town with a small canal running trough it. The prices were reasonable and the people were very friendly. It was a different vibe from the high city feel. The tour guide was patient and allowed us to take our time to look at things. For the city tour, she tailored the schedule and stops to suit our interest. We stayed longer in the places we love, and no so long in the places we were no so interested in. At the end of the day we felt we had a comprehensive
tour of Shanghai. It was a great day. Alex even gave us recommendations for activities for our free day the next day.
We're a group of six people. This water town is beautiful, worth every penny! The lunch is yummy and our tour guide Alex made it perfect with his knowledge, kindness, and patience. We should have actually left that town after lunch but since there were many interesting thing to see, we got stuck until 4pm??. After that we went to Xintiandi, another nice place to hang out and have dinner. Again, Alex made everything easy for us by sending our stuff back to the hotel and sent us a car to get back to the hotel after we had our dinner. What an amazing tour guide! Our tour guide was Nancy. She and our driver showed up promptly at our hotel. The vehicle was a spacious newer van with plenty of room. The tour took us to Zhujiajiao Water Town and we were able to select 3 other locations in Shanghai. We selected Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund, and Shanghai Tower. Nancy was very entertaining and provided a lot of history and information about the sites we visited. She also took us to a local restaurant near the temple for a delicious lunch. We loved how she ordered real Shanghai dishes for us to try. She also gave us tips on what to see on our own the next day. I highly recommend this private customizable tour and be sure to ask for Nancy!
This is a great way to learn some cultural history about China and Shanghai. Highly recommend you do this when you first arrive and then you can go back and visit the spots on your own. Our guide, Alex, was great and suggest you request him. His English was very good and very easy to understand and he was very patient with all the picture taking and allowed us to customize the tour to our liking. The driver, Mr Gio, was very good and the van comfortable. Nothing bad about this tour - we did Zhujiajiao, the Narrow Ally Way, the French Concession and the Jade Buddha and all were very interesting.
Alex gave us a great tour. Loved zhujiajiao and definitely recommend doing one of Shanghai Watertown tours. Alex did a great job of showing us Shanghai sites. For lunch, he took us to a restaurant for locals and ordered us a lovely variety of typical Shanghaiese dishes. Delicious! The four of us had a great full day tour of many diverse sites in Shanghai. We started with the Watertown tour which was an interesting historical contrast to the hustle and bustle of the downtown Shanghai area. We visited a beautiful garden, and saw an extremely interesting local market with all kinds of delicacies to try. We took a boat ride through the river and under the bridges of the town. Afterward, we headed back to the core of Shanghai. Our guide Sam, provided us with many interesting facts about the history of Shanghai and the current situation and culture in China and in Shanghai. We visited the Yu market in old town Shanghai, the Bund area along the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and our wonderful guide Sam!
